I am the king of Grilled pizza here in Japan, and can make a pretty kick ass cheeseless pizza, but I was wondering how long it takes cheese to turn into moop. I am pretty sure I can keep a bag of flour and a can of tomatoes from going bad, but no so with cheese (and there is no way I am lugging my refrigerator to the US on an air plane).
A taste of things to come...

Re: Cheese on la playa
Sun, July 27, 2008 - 11:14 PMTheres room in my cooler for cheese if you need it, I too would love to have some pizza on the playa.
If the cheese is vacuum sealed or in a water tight package it should do fine in a well iced cooler. -

You will probably need to adjust your recipe for the elevation and more arid environment.
I don't know exactly what would need to be changed.

Sat, August 9, 2008 - 6:16 PMhi hi
there a a few places that make pizza on the playa.. if you check out the main BM website you can likely find them. that said- i believe pizza is not only a dream it is a reality in BRC.
cheese will be fine, just keep your ice up as Dragonpilot mentioned on his email today.
last year we were cooking BLTs and all kinds of stuff out there. is the RV where you are planning on using the oven? i think the pizza camp uses BBQ's but i'm not sure.

Re: Cheese on la playa
Sun, August 10, 2008 - 7:42 PMYes, the Random Pizza Experience _does_ use barbecues for their pizzas (they were across the street from the B(o)(o)by Bar last year). They had cookie sheets over the grills to keep the dough from falling through. -
